my grandma, my love part 2

The hardest part about living in a bubble, is having that bubble burst... It's comforting to look through my pictures and remember the little things about my grandma. The small things I never want to forget, but want to proudly tell my kids about someday!

Growing up, most holidays were spent at my grandparents' house.  My grandpa would usually greet us outside while my grandma was finishing up in the kitchen.  She was the best cook! I don't remember her ever cooking anything super fancy, just the basics everyone loved. She spent a lifetime perfecting her recipes without writing anything down. Once I called for her baked bean recipe and was told  "just a pinch" or "a dash" of this and that...obviously mine wasn't nearly as delicious.

My grandma rarely missed one of my many events. She was at every program, honor's banquet, awards assembly basketball game, etc.

My grandma used to come by our house every Sunday after church. I remember always thinking she was so stylish! I'm almost positive she never wore the same thing twice! She also knew how to complete every outfit with fabulous jewelry! I never thought she dressed like a "grandma!"

Every time we left my grandma she'd always say, "Be Good!" I'm sure she knew we probably weren't, but at least in her eyes we were!

I found this list in one of my grandma's old bags this summer and the hoarder in me couldn't throw it away! There is something so comforting in seeing her handwriting that could be recognized a mile away.
She would make a pretty extensive chart and have a copy for everyone to fill out on Thanksgiving.  It had all of our sizes in every possible clothing item plus any crazy wish we wanted for Christmas just so she could go overboard spoiling us with gifts and the best stocking stuffers ever

I can not see Goodnight Moon and not hear my grandma saying "good night house, good night mouse." I swear she had the whole book memorized after reading it over and over, year after year to to all of us grandchildren!

My grandparents drove over two and half hours to watch me run at the state track meet...which was a relay...which means I probably ran for less than a minute. I want to be that grandma someday...

As much as I still don't understand and as much as my heart still hurts, I am so very thankful for ALL the wonderful memories I have of the sweetest lady I knew.

...be good!

You did a wonderful job of giving us a glimpse of your sweet grandma's love. YOU will be that kind of grandma, you learned from the "best".
